Events at Lake Millstatt
The Carinthian lake region offers a multitude of events in art, culture and customs that are a delight for eyes and ears. There are the music weeks in Millstatt and the comedy plays in Spittal as well as the knights jousting at Burg Sommeregg. Not to forget the World Bodypainting Festival in Seeboden which completes the colorful palette of summer events.
The other seasons have something to offer as well: the Krampus „parade“, where wild and ferocious looking masked men – the alter-ego of Saint Nicholas – race down the streets frightening onlookers; then there is the carnival parade, the Easter market featuring products brought in by the farmers of the area, the mushroom celebration, „Mountain Touching“, and the festive and colorful celebration in the autumn when cows are brought back down from alpine pastures known as „Almabtrieb“. There is never a dull moment at Lake Millstatt.
