Winter holiday
Snow encounters in "Carinthia's mountains"
If you think that a lake district is only appealing in the summer – then it is time to think again! Lake Millstatt – Carinthia’s gem – is also attractive in the cold season. Embedded in the Nock mountains, the countryside offers you pure relaxation.
The promising ingredients for our holiday recipe are living hospitality, an informal atmosphere and the utmost in comfort, plus 400 km of perfectly prepared pistes, numerous ski tour routes for all levels of difficulty, winter rambling paths, Nordic sports, (natural) ice-skating rinks, toboggan runs, horse-drawn sleighs, and much more.
The winter idyll of the Nock mountains
Breathe in the fresh winter air, and relax in the middle of the magical wintry landscape. In Bad Kleinkirchheim – the sun-kissed skiing area of the Nock mountains winter region – 26 lifts and cable cars await those hungry for the snow, as do over 100 km of pistes and the longest slopes in Carinthia. The skiing World Cup area scores points not only for its lovely ski runs, but also for two relaxing thermal baths.
Magic on Lake Millstatt
In the winter, twinkling Lake Millstatt tries to outshine the delight visible in the kids’ eyes. The young guests can romp about to their hearts’ content across the snowy landscape whilst their parents enjoy a bit of rest and relaxation on the sun terrace. Merry rounds of tobogganing, long winter rambles, romantic rides in horse-drawn sleighs, with a stop for refreshments in a local alpine hut and many a snowball fight see the days go by in a flash.
Fun, games and leisure
In the morning, build a snowman. At midday, the natural and artificial ice-skating rinks invite you to take a few daring laps. In the evening, relax in the children’s cinema and then enjoy a set meal especially for our younger guests served on a richly covered table. Everywhere you go, huts with a local flavour invite families interested in hiking and tobogganing to tarry a while and partake of some refreshment. In the form of shredded pancakes, the local pasta speciality (“Kasnudeln”) and a hearty selection of cold cuts, for instance.
The relaxation programme at the Burgstaller family estate hotel ensures a well-deserved rest after an eventful winter day. A sauna, massage and a four-course evening meal are the perfect ingredients to round off the day.
