The "Millstätter See Alpine Trail"
Hiking in the Austrian Alps
Explore beautiful hidden places in the mountains
Hike the "Millstätter See Alpine Trail" and take a discovery tour in the mountains surrounding the lake - visit dreamy places and inspiring outlooks.
With eight stages (and numerous side routes), totalling 200 km with 13 day tours, the Millstätter See Alpine trail connects the various mountains around Lake Millstatt. This trail runs at an altitude of 600-2,600 metres and covers a total of around 6,000 metres in altitude difference. Each stage fulfils your need for the unknown and the unexpected.
Powerful nature paradise
All the way to the west, you will find yourself in the world of 3,000-metre-high mountains. Millstätter Alpe is situated to the north and the Mirnock Mountain awaits hikers to the east. The trail up the Mirnock is dotted with places full of natural energy and mystery and the summit is reached via the thirty steps of the "Scala Paradisi" that are notched into the ground.
The stages of the Millstätter See Alpine Trail are also full of hidden and visible gemstones. Garnets - blood-red jewels - accompany hikers on the trail, which is often covered by shards of mica, a shiny silvery rock. Besides the garnets, many history-rich stones line the stages of this alpine trail and help create one of the region's eight most beautiful places.
