Tradition at Familiengut Burgstaller

Our hotel with farm in Carinthia

15 generations of experience

The precious, traditional knowledge of mindful agriculture has been lovingly passed down in our family from generation to generation. For more than 600 years, the farm in Carinthia has been producing the finest food in respectful harmony with the wonderful and sensitive nature of Austria.

Tradition and the modern

With our traditional, ecological farming we are subject to very high requirements, which we gladly fulfil because the environmentally-friendly and careful handling of the precious resources of our intact and protected home is our highest priority. We heat with wood chips, use solar and water power, and keep our energy consumption at Familiengut Burgstaller as low as possible.

The farmer's calendar

Here at the Familiengut Burgstaller you can participate in many local traditions and customs that have been passed down throughout the entire year.

The alpine summer begins

The cattle are driven up to the mountain pastures each May. Visit the cows in the beautiful meadows on a long alpine hike.

The farmer's market

Each Tuesday from May until September you can visit the charming farmer's market. Buy freshly harvested and homemade treats at the lovingly decorated stands.

The cattle return to the valley

Each September our beautifully decorated cattle return to the valley and look forward to their comfortable communal stables and sprawling grazing area.

Harvest festival

Harvest time is here: rosy red apples, round pumpkins, hazelnuts and porcini mushrooms are waiting to be picked. The mountain air smells of hay and we celebrate friendship weeks at the Familiengut Burgstaller in Carinthia.

Beautiful Christmastime

Everyone looks forward to twilight on Friday - this is the time we light our Advent fire at the farm. We gather together, tell stories and enjoy roasted chestnuts, a juicy roast pork sandwich, tasty bratwurst sausages and the famous homemade Döbriacher mulled wine. Kids enjoy pony rides and the living nativity scene in the stable at the farm Burgstaller.
