Nockberge Biosphere Reserve.
The Nockberge Biosphere Reserve was created in 2012 following the concept of UNESCO from the Nockberge National Park and today, together with the Lungau Biosphere Reserve, includes 184 km². Here, between the mountain and lake, countless animals and plants have found their valuable, protected habitat, whereby the Nockberge Mountains protect a unique diversity. Marmots, various species of bird, butterflies or Alpine Salamander hand out here between the Swiss stone pine and the “Speik”, a wonderfully fragrant alpine herb, which only grows here. The Biosphere Reserve shows how nature and people can live in harmony with each other, in a beautiful way. A valuable natural and cultural landscape, that you can discover on your hikes and cycling tours .
